Myanmar to hold agri expo in S'pore

Myanmar will exhibit its agricultural products for the first time overseas when it holds a fruit and vegetable expo in Singapore this month.
A source says the move is to expand the international market for Myanmar’s agriculture sector.
Organised by local agricultural firm Malar Myaing Co, the expo will last two days beginning November 17. Aside from fruits and vegetables, flowers will also be on display at the expo.
“This is the first for us to hold such an expo abroad. We will take fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers to Singapore so that their products can penetrate the global market,” said Yin Yin, one of the organisers.
Myanmar currently exports melon, mango and cucumber to China, Thailand, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia. Melon export to Singapore in air-conditioned containers started in August.
