Myanmar joins Asean-India summit

Myanmar firms will be participating in the 20th Asean-India Commemorative Summit to be held in New Delhi from December 20 to 21.
Investors from the country are planning to set up special booths and pavilions showcasing Myanmar jewels, gems, handicrafts and agriculture products.
Investors interested in attending the event need to register with the Republic of Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the country’s representative.
The summit will be the finale of several events organised to celebrate the Asean-India relations. Other events such as ministerial-level meetings, people-to-people initiatives, workshops, and cultural programmes will be held prior to the main event.
With the theme, “Asean-India Partnership for Peace and Shared Prosperity”, the summit is expected to direct the future of Asean-India relations.
“Enhancing relations with Asean has been central to India’s ‘Look East Policy’ and there has been steady progress in the Asean-India relations since the policy was initiated in the early 90s,” the official website on the event says.
