Lower tariffs for Myanmar exports to EU

Myanmar exports to Europe and the US will enjoy lower tariffs by next year through the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), Commerce deputy minister Pwint San said.
EU decided to grant GSP to Myanmar on September 17. The proposal—yet to be adopted by EU leaders—will open up EU markets to Myanmar products.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) has eased restrictions on Myanmar in June after the country made significant progress on forced labour.
"In discussing about GSP with responsible persons of American embassy, we will officially export goods to the United States only if sanctions have been eased. In this situation, I expect that we can export our goods to the US at least during 2013," said the deputy minister.
