Myanmar’s
Ministry of Communications, Posts and Telegraphs has allowed three
foreign companies to provide services for overseas calls.
The ministry’s Post &
Telecommunications Department granted a licence and a one-year contract
for providing “inbound voice traffic services” to Hong Kong-based
companies, PCCW Global Limited and Hutchison Global Communication
Limited, and Singapore-based firm NTT Singapore Pte Ltd.
The companies were tasked to cooperate with MPT officials in providing voice and data services.
The ministry has approved Myanmar Telecom and Yatanarpon Telecom to be the local service providers.
